A Bit About Denise
Her journey started very young. Being the middle child of four, Denise was forced into maturing very aggressively and almost instantly. Having two younger siblings and one older sibling who suffered from various childhood illnesses; Denise had to step up and be the caretaker while her mother worked to make a living to support her family. Realizing at a very young age that she played a very important role in the lives of others, Denise always maintained a strong & protective presence. This helped her to grow responsibly, it built character & independence and gave her the desire to protect and serve. “I never understood why people gravitated toward me, Denise says, but most say it’s her strength and her ability to confidently stand up for herself and for what she believes in. It became obvious to others that Denise had a great influence on people.
As the years continued on it became second nature for her to be the advice giver, protector, role model, help mate and encourager in life, finances, relationship, family and spirituality. This role wasn’t limited to an age group or gender and it came very naturally to her. Denise saw herself as someone who was just there when others needed, she never absorbed all that was within her; it wasn’t until about 2010 that this changed for her. This was a time that God worked vigorously within her.
Surviving an emotionally and spiritually challenging relationship; changed her perspective on life. This became a daily battle between the woman people knew her to be and the woman that she now saw herself as. Denise felt that she’d lost all control over who she knew herself to be and who she saw herself becoming. This was challenging for Denise because the God that she knows and loves didn’t just swoop down and rescue her, instead he forced her to grow extensively in the midst of emotional turmoil. It was then that she learned and understood one of her favorite bible verses “The race is not given to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happened to them all” (Ecclesiastes 9:11).
Although there were times that she didn’t think that she would make it through emotionally, spiritually she knew that God would deliver her from it all if she just held on. Denise began to put all of her efforts into growing; she fasted and prayed, studied her word, read all types of books, did several types of counseling, life coaching and took self betterment classes. She sought recovery in her situation knowing that if she just gained the knowledge and inspiration needed, she would be that much further to reaching success in her life and in the career that she desired. It was at this point that Denise aggressively turned what was meant to break her down into something that grew her into the amazingly strong, beautiful, inspiring and mentally empowered woman that she is today.
After a period of fasting and prayer, God planted the seed of starting a Women’s Empowerment Organization into Denise’s spirit. In 2013 she founded 4 Women United which was created to empower women to see all of the possibilities that life has to offer. It has always been Denise’s goal to teach women how to survive through life’s challenges by helping them make decisions using her life’s experience and spiritual values as the influence.”They say if you give a man a fish you feed him for a day but if you teach a man to fish you’ll feed him for a lifetime”. It is Denise’s obligation to “pay it forward” and a requirement of all members of our organization to do the same and adopt the motto of “I am my sister’s keeper”.
